Yukon Impact Trip
It’s common to think life in Canada is all the same, but for our neighbours up North, it is much different than places like Vancouver. The winter months are the most difficult with cold weather and short dark days. Many people struggle with addiction, mental health, and depression. In a territory that is considered the most secular in Canada, how is hope found?
Members of Village Church, Ontario, have partnered with Mountainview Church in Whitehorse to support those struggling in their community through their joint Boxes of Light initiative. These boxes will be distributed to local agencies and remote communities. Volunteers will serve at the local shelter and food bank from January 12-22, 2023, getting to know the people and the struggles of the community. They will encourage the Mountainview community during this challenging time of year.
Donated funds to help purchase supplies for the Boxes of Light Initiative.
2022 EVENTS
Paint & Sip
We had a great turnout and loads of fun!
Stay tuned as we plan to host this event again in the near future.
Date: Saturday, March 5th, 2022
Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm EST
Location: The comfort of where you choose to be, via ZOOM.
Cost: $30
Many joined us as we followed along a step by step paint night hosted by artist & art therapist, Jessika Welch!
Jess is an OCADU graduate and works primarily in oils and acrylics… so she’s prepared to share & answer questions!
NO experience was required, just an open mindset! A glass of wine or cold beer helped attendees navigate art making… just for that extra boost of confidence and ease!
Jess guided an hour long virtual event as we painted, chatted, laughed, sipped… & most importantly raised money for mental health!
This event was really about enjoying an evening in good company, learning some new skills, meeting friendly folks, and contributing to an incredibly important cause.
Attendees needed minimal materials that can easily be bought at the dollar store & your favourite booze or non-boozy drink.
All proceeds go towards raising money for mental health and our new initiative Intergenerational Programming for Seniors!
2021 EVENTS
Peaks Altitude Training
October 16, 2021
Participants joined us to experience what it feels like to be on Manchu Picchu or to climb higher than the Denali basecamp in Alaska! This state of the art training facility that is opened to the public alters the O2 in the room to take you from sea level to high altitude. It’s the only one of its kind in Canada, opened to the public.
All funds went towards our ‘Intergenerational Programming for Seniors’. Our new initiative focused on finding ways to help seniors who may be feeling isolated or impacted by any number of mental health challenges.
The event included a 60-minute coach-led cardio interval class on the bikes and/or treadmills, cool down, at 9000 ft elevation (~15% O2 level).

ABOUT KILIMANJARO
Mount Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, “Kibo”, “Mawenzi”, and “Shira”, is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Africa, and rises approximately 4,900 meters (16,100 ft) from its base to 5,895 meters (19,340 ft) above sea level.
Climbing Kilimanjaro can be demanding and challenging, as the climb statistics will attest to; nearly a third of all climbers do not reach the 19,340′ peak. Although it is not technically challenging, climbers must be physically fit and allow their bodies to acclimatize during the trek.

2017
Carstensz Pyramid – Climb #1
Oct 2-20, 2017
Carstensz Pyramid, or Puncak Jaya as it is known locally, is located in the province of Papua. It is a mountain of beautifully pocketed limestone that shoots abruptly out of a very dense forest. It is widely considered by the mountaineering community to be the true “Seventh Summit” covering the Australia/Oceania swath of earth for those trying to climb the highest mountain on each continent.
This is our first ‘official’ summit, of our Seven Summits climbs towards our fundraising goal of $700,000.00 for CAMH, to help #endstigma about Mental Health.
We will be traveling with a seasoned expedition and mountaineer guide from Terra Ultima. Check out our 21 days Itinerary-Pyramide-de-Carstensz_Eng, which was translated by Language Marketplace into English.
The second training session for Carstensz Pyramid climb in the Fall of 2017 is taking place on the weekend of September 2 – 3, 2017 in Mont Tremblant, Québec. Our expert and season trainer will be once again Léo from La Liberté Nord-Sud.
